Erie Canal Bike Ride

You should do this ride if you like the idea of seeing New York State from a completely unique vantage point - it truely looks different when you travel at 10 mph instead of 60 mph. Or maybe going on a physically active & no-gasoline vacation sounds attractive or maybe it just sounds like a fun adventure. The ride starts in Buffalo and ends in Albany. In between are 400 miles and 8 days of easy peddling, interesting places to explore, good meals and lots of people to share your adventure with. The ride is very well organized and fun. For more information and to join this years ride visit Park and Trails NY - Cycling The Erie Canal.

New York City Five-Borough Bike Ride

If a one day ride sounds good to you then you might want to join 30,000 of your closest friends as you peddle through all 5 boroughs of New York City. It's 42 miles of fun and NYC like you'll never see it except for on this day. The roads are closed along the bike route so there's no car traffic to contend with. Most of the ride goes at a comfortable pace and wherever it slows down you'll get to see New York City in a way you just can't at 30mph. For more information and to sign yourself up take a look at the TD Bank Five Boroughs Bike ride website.

John E. Butts Memorial Park in Medina, NY. A surprise along the way. Lieutenant Butts fought at Normandy during WW II. Unfortunately we are not related.
